Why a Pirate Pass, when the events are free?
Because they stay free. Pirate Lab, AI Compass, Vibe Coding Cologne and Pirate Night cost nothing to join, and the Pirate Pass is how you give something back to the crew that runs them. The hackathon ticket and the gold are our thank-you.
How does the free hackathon ticket work?
When your first month is paid, you get a single-use code by email: a free ticket to any Pirate Skills hackathon. A new code follows every three months for as long as the pass runs. Use it yourself or give it to someone – the code is not tied to your name.
Can I join just for the ticket?
The ticket code is there for members who build with us – that's the whole idea. If someone clearly joins just to grab tickets and leave, we refund the membership and cancel the ticket. Everyone else: use it, share it, have fun at the hackathon.
What is gold for?
Gold pays for the Captain, the AI in the Lab: a typical answer costs about 9 gold, and a tool call from your own agent over MCP or the API costs 1. The Pirate Pass refills your gold to 3,000 every month – about 330 Captain answers or 3,000 tool calls from your own agent. Gold you earn by taking part keeps for a year. What gold is for
What is the Codex skill?
The Pirate Skills know-how as a skill for the agent of your choice, so you can use it inside your own projects – a bonus for pass holders. It is coming soon, not built yet, and every pass includes it when it ships.
How does the three-month minimum work?
The Pirate Pass is monthly and net – VAT is added at checkout. The first three months are the minimum. After that the pass runs month to month and you can cancel any time from your billing page. If you cancel earlier, billing runs to the end of month three and then stops by itself.
