A company brain made of files that stay useful
Give your agents a simple memory layer across product, sales, and marketing – then make each real task write the useful result back.
Ben Sufiani · The article: A Company AI Brain for Non-Techies
Memory matters when the agent has to judge
A contact list is not a company brain. The agent needs to know whether a person is a customer, partner, champion, or distraction before it can propose a useful follow-up.
Ben shows the same requirement in product work. A new page needs the design system, the audience, and the product direction – not just permission to edit files.
“These judgment calls are not easy to make. This requires a company brain.”
Start with a coding agent and plain documents
Ben's first requirement is one environment that can read the files and reach the tools where the work happens. The brand, strategy, process rules, and journals are ordinary documents rather than a specialized memory product.
That simplicity is a feature. The files are inspectable, versioned, and easy for an agent to update when the business changes.
“All of the complicated solutions haven't worked as well as my simple solutions for me so far.”
Use one conversation per ongoing process
Design, content, analytics, ads, project management, and customer work each keep a focused conversation. The relevant skill and source files load when needed instead of forcing every part of the company into every prompt.
The live connector pulls current truth from the CRM, inbox, calendar, analytics, or database. The files explain how to interpret it.
The brain stays alive by writing back
A process that only reads context gets stale. Ben asks skills to update when feedback reveals a better rule, either automatically for low-risk lessons or as a proposed change when judgment matters.
The maintenance cost is real, which is why he recommends starting with one process. A small brain that improves through use beats a complete architecture nobody trusts.
“All of my skills self-update when I give them feedback.”
