A skill is a short guide that tells your assistant how to use Pirate Skills well – where to look, and to ask you before it does anything.

Download the Pirate Skills skill. It's one small file, zipped – no need to open it.
Download pirateskills.zip
In Claude, open Customize → Skills, click + and choose Create skill → Upload a skill.
Pick the file you just downloaded and switch the skill on.

Skills need Code execution and file creation switched on in Settings → Capabilities. On Enterprise, an owner turns skills on first.

Connect it

Connecting lets your assistant look things up on Pirate Skills and, once you sign in, do things for you.

Try it without an account – events, passes and which chapters answer your question. Sign in when you want it to do things for you.

In Claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Customize → Connectors, click + and choose Add custom connector.
Paste this address and click Add:

Click Connect. When it asks, sign in with your Pirate Skills account.
In a chat, open the + menu → Connectors and switch Pirate Skills on. Now just ask.

Works on every Claude plan – on Free it's your one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it once in Organization settings → Connectors, then everyone clicks Connect.

ChatGPT doesn't use skills – and doesn't need one. Connecting it in the next step is all it takes.

On chatgpt.com, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
Go to Plugins, click +, name it Pirate Skills and paste this address under Connection:
https://pirateskills.com/mcp
Create it, and sign in with your Pirate Skills account when it asks.
In a new chat, open the + menu, choose Developer mode and pick Pirate Skills. Now just ask.

Needs a paid ChatGPT plan: Developer mode is on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, and only on chatgpt.com in the browser for now. On a work account, your admin may have to allow it first.

Start Claude Code, type /mcp, pick pirateskills and choose Authenticate to sign in with your Pirate Skills account.

--scope user makes it work in every folder. Leave it out to add Pirate Skills to this project only.

No button? Open the Customize page in Cursor's sidebar, add an MCP server called pirateskills and give it this address:

When Cursor asks, sign in with your Pirate Skills account.

Then sign in with your Pirate Skills account:

One setup covers Codex in the terminal, the editor extension and the desktop app.

Small print: Pirate Skills connects through MCP, the open standard these apps use for connectors. Using another app? If it can add an MCP server by address, use https://pirateskills.com/mcp.

What you can ask

Safe by design

It asks first

Before it registers you, books an hour or changes anything else, it tells you what it's about to do and waits for your yes.

It never pays for you

A checkout is a link you open and finish yourself. Your assistant can't spend your money.

Disconnect any time

Remove Pirate Skills in your assistant's settings, where you added it. It sees only your own account, never anyone else's.

Signed in, everything it does for you costs 1 gold. It comes out of your wallet, so you can see every step your assistant took. Trying it without an account is free.
