Founder mode without becoming the bottleneck
Turn the work you still do yourself into documented agent skills, while keeping the decisions and detail that make founder mode useful.

Stay close to the detail without doing every task
Ben separates the useful part of founder mode from its most exhausting interpretation. A founder should keep contact with the product, customers, and decisions – not become the only person who can move work forward.
Agents make close supervision cheaper, but they also need the same thing a human teammate needs: a clear view of the goals, the constraints, and what good work looks like here.
“We feel bad if we micromanage employees. We don't feel so bad when we do this with agents.”
Do the work once, then teach the process
The workflow begins with a real task, not an abstract procedure. Ben recommends completing it with the agent until the result is good, then using a skill creator to capture the decisions, references, and steps that made it work.
The next run starts from that record. Feedback updates the skill, so the process improves through use instead of becoming a stale document nobody opens.
“Do the task with the agent together until you are happy with it. Then ask it to create a skill out of it and hand it off to a human or an agentic teammate.”
Let the work create its own memory
A codebase gives the agent access to the product and the operating context in one place. The files are versioned, the skills can reference them, and a decision made during delivery can be captured before it disappears into a meeting note.
That does not mean every scrap belongs there. It means the live instructions and decisions that shape recurring work should sit where the agent doing that work can actually read and update them.
One queue protects the founder's attention
Ben speaks tasks into a shared work queue and lets agents prepare drafts around his schedule. He keeps deliberate management windows and protects the rest of the week for building and selling.
The system is useful when pressure is real. If the business is still casual, the overhead is not automatically worth it. Founder mode should remove coordination work, not create a new hobby around managing agents.
“This becomes the work menu board that humans and AI can take off.”
