Build analytics around the truth, not one dashboard

Connect consent, behavior, ad platforms, and your database so an agent can explain the whole funnel without pretending every visitor was tracked.

Ben Sufiani · The article: Vibe Code Your Analytics Setup

Use the database as the source of truth

An ad platform sees the people who accepted its tracking. A product database sees the people who actually signed up. Those numbers are different by design, and treating either one as the complete picture leads to false confidence.

Ben gives the agent access to both. It can compare spend with real registrations, identify missing attribution, and explain where the funnel loses people.

“We can also use our database as the source of truth.”
Ben Sufiani

Ask a business question, not a dashboard question

Ben asks for the best traffic channels based on people who start a trial and use the product. The agent pulls product events, acquisition data, and database records into one answer.

A dashboard remains useful when a pattern needs to be watched. The difference is that the dashboard can now be created from the question instead of becoming the only place the question is allowed to live.

“I can say natural-language things like that, and it is going to look into my database and PostHog.”
Ben Sufiani

Build the stack in four pillars

Consent comes first because it decides which measurements may run. Behavior tracking then explains what consenting users did, ad-platform events help the campaign learn, and the database reconciles the final outcome.

Building each pillar separately keeps the setup understandable. It also lets the agent spot a missing event or broken handoff instead of hiding the gap inside a polished total.

“You need four pillars. You need to understand enough about consent management, how to track user behavior, optimize for pixel events, and use your database.”
Ben Sufiani

Consent changes the analysis, not the obligation to learn

When someone rejects tracking, session replay and marketing pixels stay off. Ben still records a minimal, non-personal page view where the setup allows it, while richer behavior belongs only to people who consented.

The limitation should be visible in the answer. An honest partial view plus the database is more useful than pretending the dashboard captured everyone.
