It happened to me so many times now that small changes on my websites increased my conversion rates for signups by 25% and more. A better title, background or call-to-action (CTA) can do wonders for your business.
But how do you know which one is the best? You have probably brainstormed for hours with your team. When it came down to the least 3 surviving options, you made the decision: the ONE title/background/CTA. Why? Because you or your boss CAN .. not because your users like it best. So it stays on your website for the next 2 years until the next big redesign. What you don't know is how much you have missed out because title no. 2 would have had a 15% better conversion rate and now you have probably missed 15% revenue for 2 years that could have helped you against your competitors.
A/B testing to the rescue! Today it's easier than ever to show 50% of your website visitors version A (e.g. the CTA "Join the Crew") and the other 50% version B (e.g. "Get free videos & slides"). Tools like Google Optimize (free), Visual Website Optimizer and A/B Tasty have made A/B Testing on your existing website easy today, even if you don't know how to code. They have in fact become so good, that I would not implement my own A/B testing infrastructure anymore because it would take too much time for the developing. I also use the inbuild A/B testing abilities of my favorite landing page tools like Instapage and Unbounce to have an even simpler user experience.
